About Us
Organized by HEC Montréal University since 2016, Social Business Creation is an impactful global platform for social entrepreneurship education for students, practitioners, teachers, and researchers. It has the support of the Yunus Centre created by Nobel Peace Prize Prof. Muhammad Yunus and other corporate partners such as Scotiabank. Since its foundation, 159 schools from 28 countries have participated, and more than CA$687,600 have been granted in prizes and scholarships.
Social Business Creation’s vision is to be the global leader in social entrepreneurship education. And its mission is to educate businesspeople to be socially responsible. SBC carries this mission through three main global programs (namely Competition, Training-of-Trainers, and Conferences) and others.
Social Business Creation competition counts on the financial support of Scotiabank, and the collaboration of Yunus Center founded by Nobel laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus and a growing network of university partners across the globe.

Where did it all Begins?
It’s inspiring to hear influential people’s ups and downs to remind us that the best is yet to come… Sometimes we assume that the successful person we see is just a lucky person with a lot of resources, which we lack, but when we get to know them, the magic happens… to witness how resilient they were in their lives, how tenaciously they pursued their life’s aspirations and missions, and to illuminate our path so we can join them on their mission. In addition to the positive changes the social business creation competition has brought to hundreds of people up to this point, it is even more motivating to learn how the SBC competition came into existence. Let’s hear the story of SBC founder and director, Mai Thai.
